LG G Flex 2 Marshmallow and Nougat Update – Android

Flex 2 Marshmallow

LG G Flex 2 Marshmallow is a smartphone that was released back in 2015. It was the successor to the original LG G Flex and boasted several improvements over its predecessor. The device was initially launched with Android Lollipop, but LG promised to provide the Marshmallow and Nougat updates for it. In this article, we will discuss the LG G Flex 2 Marshmallow and Nougat update and when it is expected to be released.

LG G Flex 2 Marshmallow Update:

The LG G Flex 2 received the Marshmallow update in March 2016. The update brought several new features to the device, including:

  • Doze Mode
  • Google Now on Tap
  • App Permissions, and more.

It also came with a new user interface that made the device more visually appealing.

The Marshmallow update for the LG G Flex 2 was initially released in South Korea, and it took a few weeks before it was rolled out to other regions. Users could check for the update manually by going to:

Settings > About Phone > Software Update. However, some users reported that they did not receive the update notification, even after checking for it manually.

LG G Flex 2 Nougat Update

LG G Flex 2 Nougat Update

LG had promised to provide the Nougat update for the LG G Flex 2, but it has been over four years since the device was released, and the update is yet to arrive. Many users have been eagerly waiting for the Nougat update, but there has been no official announcement from LG regarding its release.

Release Date 2017

In 2017, LG released a list of devices that would receive the Nougat update, and the LG G Flex 2 was not included in that list. This was disappointing news for LG G Flex 2 users who were hoping to receive the update.

Release Date 2018

In 2018, LG released the LG G7 ThinQ with Android Oreo out of the box, and it was promised that the device would receive the Android Pie update. However, the LG G7 ThinQ received the Android Pie update only in Q2 2019, which was almost a year after the release of the operating system.

This delay in the Android Pie update for the LG G7 ThinQ indicates that LG is not very prompt in providing updates to its devices. Therefore, it is unlikely that the LG G Flex 2 will receive the Nougat update.

Conclusion

The LG G Flex 2 Marshmallow was a flagship device when it was released in 2015, but it has become outdated now. LG had promised to provide the Marshmallow and Nougat updates for the device, and it delivered on its promise by providing the Marshmallow update. However, it has been over four years since the device was released, and there has been no official announcement from LG regarding the Nougat update.

Considering LG’s track record in providing updates to its devices, it is unlikely that the LG G Flex 2 will receive the Nougat update. Therefore, users who are still using the device should consider upgrading to a new device that is running on the latest version of Android.
